Hi there,

so I've got a UHD and a FHD monitor. The setup is as shown here. The thing is, that these monitors are 28" and 27", so they are more or less the same size and they stand on the same height. Thus I would like to semantically scale the 2nd monitor by x2, to have a much better transistion from one monitor to another.

To get this clear: I don't want to scale text, images or whatever. I want to move the cursor from the FHD monitor to the UHD monitor without it hopping up to half the screen height. Vice versa I want to to move the cursor from the UHD monitor to the FHD monitor at any height, not just at a 50% height interval.

I hope my problem got clear. Any solutions for that?

Hi Tavados,

i hope that i understand you right, but this setup you have shown, ist not perfect for the cursor-switching. For a good Dual-Monitoring, you have to set the Monitor with FHD into the middle of the UHD-Monitor. The following picture shows, what i mean:

hope i understood you right and could help you.

Even if I set the FHD in the middle of the FHD, there is still a 25% interval at the bottom, and another 25% interval at the top from which I cannot go UHD->FHD.
I don't understand, why Windows makes the users semantically arrange their desktops by resolution and not by physical size, which would make much more sense imho.

So is there hack to make Windows think, that the monitors have the same resolution, or to actually layout the monitors by their physical size?

Than answer me that question. How Windows get to know, what physical size the Monitors have?

This Information doesnt/couldnt get transmitted from Monitor to PC espeacially Windows, because there are FHD-Monitors in sizes from 17" up to 32 " (if you use a TV, so the size could grow up to 50" or 60") and so Windows only get the Information, which screen-size is used.

In my example Monitor 1 use a WQHD-Panel (2.560 x 1.440) and Monitor 2 use a UXGA-Panel (1.600 x 1.200) ans so are the 1.440 and 1.200 Pixels "nearly the same". In your Example you use a UHD-Panel (3.840 x 2.160) and a FHD-Panel (1.920 x 1.080) and so you have with your UHD-Panel the double size of the FHD-Panel. Logically, that your cursor jumps by switching the screens, even if you set the FHD-Monitor in the middle of the screen.

The only way to solve the problem ist to set the resolution of your UHD-Panel to FHD, but this is senseless :(

Well I don't expect that Windows has the screen size setting as it's default, but it should definately be an option for people that like to tinker with these "problems".
As there is no such option (afaik), I'm looking for a way to tell Windows a fake resolution or something. I mean there must be a way to achieve what I'm looking for.
